Diving in - Chico, CA
Hello Everyone,
This is my first blog post on my first blog ever. How cool is that. I would like to take the time for the next few months focusing on my local politics in Chico, CA. We've been in the news on larger media platforms a few times, and not for good reasons.
I feel that it's important to keep in touch with the environment around you. For me this includes paying attention to your surroundings. It's a vague statement but it can mean a lot of different things. It could mean paying attention to the tone and body language of your friends, co workers, and family. It could mean paying attention to the weather. It could mean paying attention to the politics in your local area. There are people in power who are making decisions that may or may not affect you. If they don't directly affect you, they could be affecting your neighbors. If policies or votes on a council affect your neighbors, then maybe some day these policies (good or bad) could affect you one day. The following are some notable examples.
I have wanted to be involved in local politics, but I always found something else to do that seems more interesting. As I read news articles about our council meetings, they generally don't read in such a way that makes me proud to be a Chico native. I still don't know how I feel about this, but I was born and raised in Chico, and I am still here.
What if I could do something to make a positive impact? Would all I need to do to start is by paying attention to the happenings in my local political sphere? Creating this blog should help keep me accountable and motivated to do so. I hope that any reader who finds this blog will join me in observing the politics of our Chico city council, and in doing so take action in ways that we can to make Chico a better place.
